Review: Vampire Academy

Vampires are all in the trend now. All the YA section are now filled with either vampire/werewolf books. Of course, I am very interested in them too =P I was quite excited when I heard that this movie was coming out but I only managed to watched it recently. And for a change, I had not read the book yet. For a film that is based on a book, I think they did it quite well. I managed to get the hang of the different terms that they used, despite being confused for the first 10-15 minutes, and the action scenes were quite good. (And I love it that not everything is action. I hate that a lot, especially if there are plots like those of Jacky Chan's movies) The love between the two friends is portrayed strongly in the movie, especially at the start when they were revealed to be on the run for two years, with Rose letting Lissa feed on her. The complications only started when they went to Vampire Academy, where the vampires and their guardians are. But life in Vampire Academy and

Review: How to train your dragon 2

I'm a super huge cartoon movie person, so when we went over to JB today, we caught this movie. :) I am totally not disappointed. Compared to the first movie, this movie has a better plot. There are so many ups and downs scenes that I can't keep track of them all. Toothless is as cute as ever, but he can't really fly without a rider (which sucks because he nearly drowned when Hiccup was captured.)Hiccup lost his leg but he is still functioning properly, and he even invented something so that he could fly! The cinematics are awesome! And...I cried when Hiccups's dad died. However, there are so many cute scenes that made the movie enjoyable instead of an angst one. It's a great coming of age movie as Hiccup is rebellious but towards the end, he realises that no matter how great he thinks his dad is, and how useless he is, he still has to try to work towards being like his dad. A must-watch. I caught this movie at JB KSL for RM14. Two good things about w

Friends, books and life - The Queen's fool by Philippa Gregory

It's quite interesting to see how people change throughout the years. The people that you thought will stick with you might end up being the ones that desert you when you need them the most. Yet, those whom you seldom contact might be the ones who are willing to help. I was bored when I went facebook surfing, and I realised that many of my acquaintances are either in MOE or doing those OTOT jobs. It is really quite unexpected, but I guess to each their own huh. All of us have our own paths to walk, and the decisions are not forced upon us. I am still reeling from Philippa Gregory's The Queen's Fool. I must admit that I like her historical fiction. It may not be entirely historically accurate but she is quite gifted in spinning out stories and theories. The main lead is Hannah Green, a Jewish girl who has to hide her heritage in order to survive in a country full of heresy.  She and her father are escaping from the Spanish Inquisition and looking for a better life

Real Escape Game: Escape from the Moon Base

Saturday, I went with a few of the YEC people for the bonding event. Initially, I thought that it was a normal real escape game where we will be locked up and we try to figure a way out, but to my surprise, it was the puzzle real escape that Wendy and I had went for when we were still fresh young blood. Storyline: ONE HOUR LEFT UNTIL YOU RUN OUT OF AIR. "Emergency! Emergency! The base is severely damaged! Cause unknown!" Suddenly, the alert blares out through the base. You are trapped! There is only one hour of oxygen supply left and seconds are already ticking away. What caused the damage? Is there a way out? Solve the mysteries, escape from the Moon Base, and survive! Real Escape Game (REG) is a thematic puzzle-based game that was the first of its kind to be brought in from Japan in 2012 and is a pioneer in the establishing of the concept of 'Escape Games' in Singapore. REG focuses on the finest quality of puzzle contents and encourages real-life social int

First-time fleaing @Clementi

Once in a while, there will be a flea market at my Blk's void deck. Yesterday was the first time that I actually participated in one. It was a blind leap of faith as I always thought that there wasn't much sales at a HDB flea. I was wrong. The residents are very price-sensitive and you have to take into consideration of the demographics. In Clementi, most of the residents are old folks and I was selling kid's apparels, toys and adult apparels. Of course, these old folks have precious grandsons and granddaughters and they love to buy cheap toys and apparels for them (and I was selling them at 50cents each.) They swiped up lots of toys at one go and some even came back for a second purchase. Even though the adult clothes that I was selling were preloved and not branded, quite a few purchased them, and I sold them at a flat rate of $1 each, regardless of the condition of the clothing. I managed to clear two containers of clothes by doing so. All in all, I made around

2nd year anniversary - 6/6/14

I realised that there must be some unhappy stuff happening during our anniversary each year. So far, it has met my expectations every time. This time last year, you told me that you aren't rich enough to buy me a proposal ring. This year, you skipped our anniversary dinner to have dinner with your mum and sister. Sometimes, I really wonder if I am truly in your heart. I mean, you can apologise all you want but it doesn't erase the facts that these has happened. It's like killing someone and crying at the person's tombstone saying that he's sorry for what he has done. This is what people called, "blinded in love." I wonder if we would have continued for so long/got married if we had not gotten the BTO flat. It seemed to be a good idea then, but on hindsight, we should probably have thought longer and harder about it. I was head over heels with the idea of having my own flat with no parents to fuss over what I'm doing to properly analyse the

Slight preview of bluebay wedding photos

We got our edited v1 photos last month but we still have not done anything to it. Nevertheless, they still look awesome ;) PL had this idea of peeping under my dress ! @@ In this photo, he literally carried me! =D and complained that I was heavy! One of the more classic photos. I love the combination of colours ;D And we moved on to the beach where we did martial arts. I guess there is a good combination of the usual shots plus some of the more exotic ones. Quite pleased with the turnout of the photos. (Luckily we didn't like the normal shots that much, if not, we would have to pay a lot more extra moolah!)
